This made me want to throw up.

Last night we listened to John McCain tell America how proud he is of his supporters. My blogger pal over at Scott's Take posted this video. See for yourself why Senator McCain is so proud.

I shared this post over at The Cheek. Simply amazing . . .

Gotta say that whole video irritates me. Protesting at a debate and asking questions to bait extreme responses. it seems to me EVERYONE in that video needs a job. For something that is a prime example of smear try this video:

On second thought, don't give the guy enough credit to view it.

The counselor in me struggles with the idea that the makers of this video were "asking questions to bait extreme responses." It really relieves those extreme responders of any responsibility for what they say, doesn't it?

The other video...wow. For what it's worth, I think the two videos are in entirely different camps. A homemade montage is not the same as real, live people choosing to say real, live things into a camera. Now, of course, if the makers of the video (keystone progress) had drugged and coerced the McCain supporters, I might think otherwise.

I understand your point. I did not mean to remove responsibility from people making ignorant/hateful/stupid comments. The fact that I believe they were baited doesn't make those statements any less harmful.

I still think that the makers of the video were trying to cause trouble, for the sake of causing trouble. That I don't agree with.

Chillingly frightening how these people have been brainwashed.

But that was the GOP's plan, right?

Thanks for posting.

Anonymous - I'll grant you that the video makers were poking the beast. Why else would they have had cameras, right? Still, I believe hateful spewing to present far greater potential harm to our shared society than non-aggressive freelance journalism.

A Whole Lot of Nothing - brainwashed is the perfect word to describe the specific things they were shouting. It was like they're reading from a playbook or something and whenever they were asked something pushing them off-script, all they could do was stammer or repeat.

When McCain said last week "We've got them just where we want them", I think maybe he wasn't talking about Democrats as much as he was talking about his own supporters.

It's easier now to call it (R) a cult rather than a political party.

Sorry, I couldn't make it through the whole thing, I shut it off 1:29 into the 5 minutes. I don't care what questions were asked, it's appalling to think that anyone believes the things those people said.

But the good news is the RNC gave up on us here in Wisconsin!! We're already BLUE! Hot damn!

I'm sad I share a state with those people. They are the ignorant bigots McCain refers to as his base. Notice how they couldn't give back an intelligent thought beyond the soundbites that have been drummed into their ears. I will cry no tears for them on November 5th.

I went to a few Obama rallies in the past month with over 50,000 people attending peacefully. I saw a total of three McCain supporters demonstrating. Thankfully, not all Pennsylvanians are stupid!

The ignorant angry rant that comes out of those people give me the willies....

but I have to say, I don't know why there would be protestors at a republican speech-

seems like a set up for bad behavior on both sides.

freedom of speech means freedom even for the ignorant.

but damn, if Mc Cain wins, I just might let my house foreclose on purpose and go live on the beaches in Mexico.......

having lost a long time ago any faith in our election process; knowing that I am not an elector and my vote has never counted.
